What is Career Development?

Career Development is the process through which your team members learn and apply short-term skills to advance toward their long-term professional goals. This process is personally driven and often lifelong, requiring consistent achievement of milestones tailored to their chosen career paths.

As a leader, your role in this process is to create a structured and nurturing work environment where individuals can acquire, refine, and test both soft and hard skills, all while knowing they have your support to help them along the way.

<aside> 🪴 Our commitment is to collaborate closely with team members, walk alongside them on their journeys, and offer constructive feedback to propel them toward their professional aspirations and elevate their careers. We aspire for Trio to be a nurturing environment where individuals can continually develop and steadily progress toward their career objectives every single day.

Career Development vs. Performance Management

Both impact one another, but there are specificities in both. 🔍

Career Development Performance Management
What The process through which you, as a leader, empower your team members to cultivate skills within the organization and steadily move closer to their career aspirations, fostering a sense of ownership and agency in their professional growth. The process through which you, as a leader, oversee and support your team members in their individual performance toward achieving the company's or partner's goals and objectives, while also offering valuable feedback along the way.
How Trio's Career Development is systematized by the IDPs, which represents the structured framework that defines the development possibilities, with clarity of the necessary skills and what are the action plans that the team member should complete to develop them. To manage team members’ performance, Trio establishes internal systems and processes for constantly setting goals as objectives, and reviewing the individual performance towards them, making sure they are aligned with the organization’s strategy.
Ownership Although the organization establishes the process, it is up to team members to take advantage of and own their own IDP and development. Performance Management is owned by the organization and by the organization (and partners).

1. IDPs

1.1. What is it?

The IDP essentially serves as a concrete roadmap, comprising actionable steps for Trioneers to enhance various skills and competencies vital to their roles and career progression. Each action plan is rooted in specific goals, competencies, or skills that individuals aspire to cultivate.
